COMMON MEDIA, INC.
Project Description:
Common Media, Inc. (A web production and consulting company based in Western Massachusetts) asked if I would redesign their corporate identity and establish a visual presence. For this project I wanted to give a brief insight of the logo design process. The first four images are of the final logo, which focused on the mechanical aspects of Common Media, Inc. They are the “gears” behind a website, which keep it running smoothly, efficiently and constantly. The gears also represent the “behind the scenes” (programming) side of a website, which is as important as the visual design. The following keywords, accessible, personal, dependable, manageable and responsive reflect CMI’s characteristics and I
Services Provided: IDENTITY DESIGN & WEBSITE wanted the logo to promote them as well. The fifth image is a grouping of some of the development process I went through to create this logo. I’m a firm believer of sketching first. This will help to get all of the ideas on paper and establish creative direction. Then using a computer will make the ideas come to life. You can see in the fifth image below there are word lists and sketches, which help with the free flow of creative ideas and concepts. The last image displays some logos, which were designed digitally after the sketches were done. Then one was chosen and tweaked until the client was completely satisfied. It was a pleasure to work on this project with CMI.
